When booting, I get this far: Partition check: /dev/ide/host0/bus0/target0/lun0: p1 /dev/ide/host0/bus1/target0/lun0: [PTBL] [4982/255/63] p1 p2 It then sits there (I've left it for over an hour). The machine is completly unresponsive. I have 2 HDs in the system, A WD 120GB HD (with one NTFS5 partition), and a Maxtor 40GB HD (With a 33GB NTFS5 partiton, and a 5GB BeOs partition). I think the problem may be related to the BeOs partition. I may try removing it and seeing if that helps. I will report back if it does/doesn't help (Although I'd like to keep it) :) This machine with this config installed fine with 1.2
No, don't kill your BeOs Partition! Most likeley this isn't the problem. Some other people without BeOs Partitions have the same problem (including me). I think the guy in bug 8900 made a good point.
Ok - I've tried with the latest LiveCD image I could find (1.4 RC1-r2 dated 12/18/2002 from ftp.ibiblio.org) and I still have the same problems. I've removed the BeOs partition, still no go. This is on an nForce1 motherboard, so I don't know if its something to do with IDE drivers (or lack thereof). If there is a newer version of the livecd image, let me know, and I'll try it out.
Try the "2002122100" livecd from http://www.gentoo.org/dyn/experimental/livecd/ and post your results (good/bad) here. The 1.4_rc1-r2 CD is actually much older than its timestamp suggests.

Sorry - I was out of the country and this sliped my mind when I returned. It boots and installs now. If I have my spare ethernet card install (which I used to have to use due to lack of NVNet support) it locks up during SCSI detection (go figure), if I boot with with only the onboard it works (although I think I had to use nonet to get past the network detection - a quick modprobe & dhcpcd once I was at the prompt got my network up). It definatley gets past the HD detection (which was the original problem). This was with the "2002122100" LiveCD Image.
