Description James Le Cuirot gentoo-dev 2005-03-01 19:11:26 UTC
Opera is having trouble finding libXm.so.1, libXm.so.2 or libXm.so.3 because it is no longer present in /usr/X11R6/lib or /usr/lib. There have been a lot of similar bugs to this but most of the Opera-related ones are from ages ago and most of the recent libXm.so ones have had something to do with AMD64 (??) but I'm on x86. I think the cause of this is that LessTif now puts its libraries in /usr/lib/lesstiff and OpenMotif now puts its libraries in /usr/lib/openmotif. I have both installed. LessTif only has libXm.so.2 and OpenMotif only has libXm.so.3. I'm guessing that version 3 is the better version so I've symlinked to that from /usr/lib. The Opera ebuild currently depends on OpenMotif, though perhaps it should also allow LessTif as an alternative? Maybe the lesstif USE flag should be used here? If it's only Opera that needs this library to be symlinked from /usr/lib then maybe these could be created by the Opera ebuild.

there was a bug in motif-config which should be fixed now, just run the following as root:

motif-config -s openmotif-2.2
