Unfortunately, you CFLAGS are sane so basically it just looks like a hardware issue. Somewhere your hardware is flipping a bit on compiles which is no good. Try emerging memtest86 and running that for a while and that'll let you know. You can try to re-emerge mythfrontend and hope the problem was a one time thing. Have you been getting crashes or program crashes or anything like this in the past? If you have you might want to consider switching to a binary distro because you're hardware is unstable.
memtest86 didn't discover any problems. However, emerging mythfrontend again did make the problem go away. I can play recorded shows, and all functions I have tested appear to work. This is a BRAND new HP ZV5000 laptop. I pray that it doesn't have defective hardware. If it does, that's what the warranty is for I guess.
