Another bug-fix release in the stable GIMP 2.2 series is now available. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce:
Created attachment 52479 [details] Same file as gimp-2.2.3.ebuild, but renamed to 2.2.4
Created attachment 52480 [details] The digest file for 2.2.4
Tested gimp-2.2.4 by copying the 2.2.3 ebuild into my portage overlay and renaming it to 2.2.4. These are the use flags I used for emerging (note that gimp-print is NOT included) media-gfx/gimp doc gtkhtml jpeg mmx mng png python sse svg tiff wmf Compile gave no problems, gimp runs fine so far. Added the renamed ebuild and generated digest files as attachment (maybe superfluous, so delete them if you don't like them ;-). you should change the attachments to text/plain (instead of application/octet-stream) and change the severity of it to enhancement if you want to get some traction on this "They" otherwise won't pay any attention :-) Adding "version bump" might also help.
hmm, still not in portage yet?
btw: GIMP 2.2.4 Released 2005-02-23 Another bug-fix release in the stable GIMP 2.2 series is now available. The source code can be downloaded from ftp.gimp.org; binary packages will be made available soon. The GIMP Help team has also made a new snapshot of the GIMP user manual. so there's also a new gimp-user-manual! ;-)

Created attachment 54055 [details] Updated ebuild for gimp 2.2.4 Cleaned the ebuild up: - removed libtool patch (worked anyway, had gimp 2.0 installed) - removed python image patch (was fixed in 2.2.1) - updated requirements and made them more conformat to what the page on gimp.org says (this introduces a dependency on libmng-1.0.8 which is not stable yet) Worked fine on my machine. I hope to see this in portage soon :) emerge info: Gentoo Base System version 1.4.16 Portage 2.0.51.19 (default-linux/x86/2004.2, gcc-3.3.5, glibc-2.3.4.20041102-r1, 2.6.10-gentoo-r6 i686) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.10-gentoo-r6 i686 AMD Athlon(tm) XP 2200+ Python: dev-lang/python-2.3.4-r1 [2.3.4 (#1, Feb 8 2005, 22:56:34)] distcc 2.16 i686-pc-linux-gnu (protocols 1 and 2) (default port 3632) [enabled] dev-lang/python: 2.3.4-r1 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.59-r6, 2.13 sys-devel/automake: 1.8.5-r3, 1.5, 1.4_p6, 1.6.3, 1.7.9, 1.9.4 sys-devel/binutils: 2.15.92.0.2-r1 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.10-r4 virtual/os-headers: 2.6.8.1-r1, 2.6.8.1-r2 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CFLAGS="-O2 -march=athlon-xp -pipe" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3.2/share/config /usr/kde/3.3/env /usr/kde/3.3/share/config /usr/kde/3.3/shutdown /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/lib/X11/xkb /usr/lib/mozilla/defaults/pref /usr/share/config /usr/share/texmf/dvipdfm/config/ /usr/share/texmf/dvips/config/ /usr/share/texmf/tex/generic/config/ /usr/share/texmf/tex/platex/config/ /usr/share/texmf/xdvi/ /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/terminfo /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-O2 -march=athlon-xp -pipe" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoaddcvs autoconfig candy ccache distcc distlocks sandbox sfperms" GENTOO_MIRRORS="ftp://sunsite.informatik.rwth-aachen.de/pub/Linux/gentoo http://mirrors.sec.informatik.tu-darmstadt.de/gentoo ftp://ftp.uni-erlangen.de/pub/mirrors/gentoo ftp://ftp.join.uni-muenster.de/pub/linux/distributions/gentoo" LC_ALL="de_DE.utf8" MAKEOPTS="-j3" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.de.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="x86 3dnow 3dnowex X aalib alsa apm avi beepmp berkdb bitmap-fonts cdr crypt cups curl directfb dvdr emboss encode esd fam fbcon ffmpeg flac font-server foomaticdb gcj gdbm gif gimpprint gnome gpm gstreamer gtk gtk2 gtkhtml guile hal imagemagick imlib ipv6 java jikes joystick jpeg junit libg libg++ libwww mad mikmod mmx mng motif mozilla mp3 mpeg mysql ncurses network nls oggvorbis opengl pam pdflib png ppds python quicktime readline ruby samba scanner sdl silc slang speex spell sse ssl svg svga tcpd tetex theora tiff truetype truetype-fonts type1-fonts unicode usb xml xml2 xv zlib linguas_de linguas_en" Unset: ASFLAGS, CBUILD, CTARGET, LANG, LDFLAGS
Btw the ebuild uses the new gimp manual 2.0.7, too.
Is there a reason that the 2.2 series of Gimp isn't stable? I thought that the last blocking dependency was fontconfig 2.2.9, which went stable about a week ago.
Oops -- my bad, s/fontconfig 2.2.9/freetype 2.1.9/

I've committed 2.2.6 to CVS now,
Hello i use gimp-2.2.6 for a week relative intensively and i had no problems or chrashes since then with the program. It merged absolute cleanly on an otherwise actual and stable x86-system. I would approve to make the gimp-2.2.6-ebuild stable on x86. By the way, is this really the right place to give the gentoo-developers a positive feedback? I haven't find something else in the documentation. I second the call for stabilization.
Please, no "me too" comments - just add yourself to the CC. 2.2.6 is working fine for me, but it's 2 weeks short of it's "1 month in ~arch period" (see the developer docs for more on our stabilization policy).
2.2.7 is out now, see bug 92008
