Description Ryan Marsh 2005-02-28 07:42:21 UTC
I have Gaim 1.1.4 configured to check for new mail on my Hotmail and Yahoo accounts. When the New Mail Notification comes up and I click on the Check Mail button, it opens a web browser in Galeon. My Gnome 2.8 preferences are set to user Firefox. When I click on a URL in a conversation, the link opens in Firefox. I have uninstallaled and re-installed with various USE flags, I have edited the prefs.xml file to use Firefox and this error still occurs.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install Gaim
2.
3.

10:13 < nosnilmot> mail notifications result in opening a file on local disk,
so if gnome-open has separate handlers for file:// and
http:// then it will do different things

Can you verify this?

I just duplicated the issue without using Gaim. I think I miscategorized this bug. When I ran gnome-open test.html (a test html file in my ~ directory and no running web server) it came up in Galeon. When I put http:// in front of a URL, it opens in Firefox as it should.

Sorry guys. I had to associate the file type .html to open with Firefox. I did this through Nautilus and everything works fine now.
