I think it's kinda inevitable with gentoo's dev-java/commons-compress library. Freenet works with the old one that comes prepackaged with freenet, but not with any of the newer ones - I forget which version exactly changed things (I think it was commons-compress ~1.6, whereas freenet comes bundled with ~1.1).
