Hi, For some time now i've noticed that my system does every 30 seconds a short (for about 10 seconds) btrfs defrag. Since there was a know problem with the btrfs defrag in 5.16 i though i hit that problem. However this should have been fixed with 5.16.5 or later as far as i know? I'm on 5.16.10 right now but still encounter this problem. Right now i had to set "noautodefrag" in my fstab in order to fix this. I see around nine new commits for btrfs defrag in 5.17. Do you feel secure enough to test an rc release of 5.17 (git-sources) ?
Hello Mike I'm running now 5.17-rc5 since almost 2 days. (with autodefrag enabled again). So far so good. Seems like these commits helped here. Regards Michael
Thanks for testing, we'll keep on eye on these commits and see if they make it down to stable versions.
These patches are in both the latest 5.16 and also in 5.17. Anything to report here?
I've used 5.17rc5-rc8 and 5.17 final now. I didn't had any problems anymore. However i haven't checked any later version of the 5.16 branch but can have a look if you want.
