Description Daryl Stimm 2002-09-25 01:22:41 UTC
Phoenix 0.1 is a new light weight browser based on mozilla 1.2.

I basicly edited a mozilla-1.1-r1 ebuild to get it to work. Since they didnt
release the src I had to follow the instuctions on their site to get the src
from the cvs server.

So I created a tar.gz file with the src in it. Its basicly Mozilla-trunk +
mozilla/browser + mozilla/toolkit.

I had to do it this way because todays trunk is broken for 0.1 and I had to use
yesterdays. (sep 24th 2002)

here is the src. http://linux.darylstimm.com/phoenix-0.1.tar.gz

I also added a .mozconfig file to the src which has the configure options it
needs to make phoenix.

Hey daryl

I added phoenix-bin to the tree some days ago. I think its better to use the
binaries, cause of the very early stage of phoenix. Besides, i dont want to take
a new snapshot every week. :)

Is that okay with you?

I think a build from source is preferable to the binary ebuilds. Though still
"alpha", phoenix is quite usable, and I would prefer a slightly out of date
phoenix built from a source snapshot to an up-to-the-minute binary phoenix. The
reason is that Xft (truetype/anti-aliasing) support is not compiled into the
binaries. Creating a source ebuild for Phoenix would allow truetype support via
USE flags.

We shall have both then. Could anybody please bump this ebuild to the newest
version (take a new snapshot and, ...) ? I would do it myself, but my hda is
still b0rked - i should get it up and running this afternoon (10-12hrs from
now). If everything works fine, that is.

Btw, do me a favor and look at bug 9962 please (
http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9962 ). Got a clue?

I might have some time to work on this today. I replied to your question
about bug 9962 over there.
