I assume you only want to be a distfiles mirrors as distfiles is the only directory on the mirror. Also, the timestamp is a bit off on this machine.
I just checked Mar 1, 742am EST:
Sat, 26 Feb 2005 13:07:16 +0000

You need to make sure you keep syncing as the document says or I cant add you.

Jeffrey

i now have a cron task to sync every _hour_ is every hour good or should i go half hour (i dont want to totally kill the rsync mirror given in the tutorial). The setup document says every four hours:

All mirrors must be synchronized every four hours, starting at midnight in your local time zone. This helps distribute the load out over a period of time, rather than having all mirrors synchronize at the same time.

and if the timestamp was off by more then 4 hours then i most positivly must have some problem with my cron script.

Every hour wont do you much better good, and puts extra strain on our mirrors. If you're a distfiles mirror, please only sync every 4 hours from your local midnight.

Ah i just see that my cron entry from before must not be working, i'll fix that and i wont hit it every 1 hour but i had thought my cron entry was working, i'm terribly sorry.
Comment 6 James Dio 2005-03-19 07:16:03 UTC
I have checked every once in a while and the server seems to be syncing correctly (the timestamp stays updated..) Will this be added?
Comment 7 James Dio 2005-04-13 04:37:36 UTC
Server is now a full gentoo mirror (minus the historical as the page allows for full mirror) It is accessable from http://gentoo.psunit.com and timestamps remain up-to-date. I understand mirror admin is away and this is and update for when he returns.
Comment 8 James Dio 2005-04-18 17:02:31 UTC
Server is now a rsync mirror. I hear they are in demand ;-)

James,

Seems the timestamp is a little bit off. It shouldnt be more than 30-40 minutes off from my timestamp. Get that working right and I can add you to the mirror rotation.

Now set to sync twice an hour, before only once a day not to stress mirror system.
Comment 11 Jeffrey Forman (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-04-20 13:27:05 UTC
Added in as rsync12.us.gentoo.org and in the rsync.us.gentoo.org rotation. Start syncing to rsync1.us.gentoo.org.

Thanks!
Jeffrey
