Then I tried to reemerge tiff and it, too, failed. I will wait one day till next emerge sync - then I will put gaim in /etc/portage/package.mask or unmerge it.
Me again! I don't know what happened, but 14 hours later it all went ok. gaim-1.1.4 emerged ok. Guess it was something with the server during the emerge sync in the morning. I guess these things happen sometimes. linfan
