I think someone reported this before but IIRC it continued fine without git, it just tries to automatically use it. Wonder if you're hitting a different issue instead. We need to bump to 0.355 anyway but does 0.354 work any differently?
Ah, I lacked patience, it does continue and install OK. This is a fresh Raspberry Pi 3, so not a lot of spare cycles to run tests. It will be building all night... I guess you can close this.
