emerge --info

I have been building nearly each new kernel the last months without any problems.

But now, gentoo-sources-5.16.3 and 5.16.4 hang during boot - last the messages displayed is
floppy0: no floppy controllers found

In dmesg's output for the running 5.16.2 kernel the following lines are

[ 3.750095] ata2: SATA link up 1.5 Gbps (SStatus 113 SControl 300)
[ 3.751279] ata2.00: ATAPI: HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GH24NSD1, LG00, max UDMA/133
[ 3.752690] ata2.00: configured for UDMA/133
[ 3.754591] scsi 1:0:0:0: CD-ROM HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GH24NSD1 LG00 PQ: 0 ANSI: 5
[ 3.794084] sr 1:0:0:0: [sr0] scsi3-mmc drive: 48x/12x writer dvd-ram cd/rw xa/form2 cdda tray
[ 3.794153] cdrom: Uniform CD-ROM driver Revision: 3.20

The same happens with vanilla-sources-5.16.4

How can I find out what's happening?
Many thanks for a hint.

please attach the kernel config

It is sad to read that you have problems with the kernel. The situation seems to be a bit more complicate and requires some analysis.
We can not help you efficiently via bug tracker. The bug tracker aims rather on specific problems in .ebuilds and less on individual systems.

I have had very good experience on the gentoo IRC [1] with questions like this. Of course there are also forums and mailing lists [2,3].
I hope you understand, that I will close the bug here therefore and wish you good luck on one of the mentioned channels [4].
Please reopen the ticket in order to provide an indication for an specific error in an ebuild or any gentoo related product.
