On upgrading to 91.5.1 and yes, it it did it on 91.5.0, so I previously downgraded to 78.x, but you've removed that, thunderbird is overriding the system dark theme and the message panel background, as well as all preference backgrounds are all white, which is really hard to read. Every other part of the app follows the theme, the message/folders list, the calendar, etc. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Upgrade 2. Open the app. Actual Results: White backgrounds Expected Results: Dark backgrounds. It's annoying and painful on the eyes.
Thank you for the report. We need to have all information at hand before ticket assignment. Why? It builds, this isn't a build error, this is a runtime error.
(In reply to Luke A. Guest from comment #2) > Why? It builds, this isn't a build error, this is a runtime error. I think it'd still useful to share emerge --info but yes.

Could you show a (censored) screenshot for what you mean exactly? I don't use dark theme personally but I can get a full dark theme with these steps: - Addons & Themes -> Select Dark -> Enable - Preferences -> General -> Language & Appearance -> Colors (edit these settings to your needs) What GTK3 theme you have selected, if you use "system theme"? For that you should also be able to edit the message textarea colors from the Preferences...Colors settings editor.
I have the system theme set in thunderbird, I cannot change the colours at all. In KDE preferences, I have Breeze Dark as global theme, for gtk, it's set to the adwaita-dark.
Created attachment 763743 [details] Main window As I said, the 78.14.0 version worked fine.

Your Preferences view is in "Calendar" subsection. Open Preferences -> General -> Language & Appearance -> Fonts & Colors -> Colors -> Edit "Text and Background" to your needs -> Override the colors specified by content with my selections above -> [x] Always. This changes the background and text for me in message's text area and in Thunderbird settings, both of which screenshots you showed. Yeah I'm not going to argue something has probably changed by upstream since 78 -> 91, it's a big jump. But this should be solvable by updating your settings, at least seems to work for me with the steps listed above.
I had a similar issue, with x11-themes/arc-theme. I resolved the issue by going to Preferences > General > Language & Appearance > Colours and selecting the following: Text: <light colour> Background: <dark colour> Use system colours: unchecked Override the colours specified by the content with my selections above: Never (despite what it sounds like, this option also affects Thunderbird's theming, not just messages)
(In reply to Joonas Niilola from comment #9) > Your Preferences view is in "Calendar" subsection. Open Preferences -> > General -> Language & Appearance -> Fonts & Colors -> Colors -> Edit "Text > and Background" to your needs -> Override the colors specified by content > with my selections above -> [x] Always. I said it was "preferences" I didn't say which section and that's what it is. Ag, it was the override selection box. But seriously, if you have a theme installed in thunderbird, surely, it should use that?
While 102 still doesn't fully respect your theme, I believe, it now has much better theme customization ability built-in.
