Firefox 1.0-r3 crashes with /usr/bin/firefox: line 415: 11505 Segmentation fault $mozbin "$@". I've seen a few segfault errors on bugzilla here, it seems a segfault on line 88 is quite popular. Also, all others seem to be reproducible and fail on a specific site. Mine appears to be quite random. It does not crash on start or on a specific webpage. Sometimes there are a few tabs open and other times there's nothing even open other than a preference box. Revisiting any and all of the webpages that were open when it crashed does not crash the browser again but then it crashes at some other seemingly random point. There appears to be no pattern at all. Have you tried the suggestion in the last post here?: http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-239839.html I had a similar problem with segfaults and the font directory permissions turned out to be the problem. The font directories need to be readable by the user running firefox.
tried it. I'll see how it runs now. Thanks :)
nope. Still the same :( It seems to happen more often with a heavier load. ie. lots of tabs.
Same problem here: /usr/bin/firefox: line 415: 10347 Segmentation fault $mozbin "$@" and /usr/bin/firefox: line 415: 27682 Segmentation fault $mozbin "$@" Font permissions set to the user and group and/or check "Always use my Fonts and/or Colors" didnt work It happens to me and till now only on website which use java (eg. games.yahoo or inotes-webmail), and is easy reproduceable, it just happens always after the same clicks. Imo it has nothing to do with the (heavy) load. emerge --info Portage 2.0.51-r15 (default-linux/amd64/2004.3, gcc-3.4.3, glibc-2.3.4.20041102-r0, 2.6.9-gentoo-r14 x86_64) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.9-gentoo-r14 x86_64 AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3000+ Gentoo Base System version 1.4.16 Python: dev-lang/python-2.3.4-r1 [2.3.4 (#1, Feb 7 2005, 13:06:48)] dev-lang/python: 2.3.4-r1 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.59-r6, 2.13 sys-devel/automake: 1.7.9-r1, 1.8.5-r3, 1.5, 1.4_p6, 1.6.3, 1.9.4 sys-devel/binutils: 2.15.92.0.2-r1 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.10-r4 virtual/os-headers: 2.6.8.1-r2 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="amd64" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CFLAGS="-march=athlon64 -O2 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer" CHOST="x86_64-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3.3/env /usr/kde/3.3/share/config /usr/kde/3.3/shutdown /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/lib/X11/xkb /usr/share/config /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/terminfo /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-march=athlon64 -O2 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoaddcvs autoconfig ccache distlocks sandbox" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://distfiles.gentoo.org http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/distributions/gentoo" MAKEOPTS="-j2" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="X aac aalib acl acpi add alsa amd64 apm arts audiofile avi bash-completion berkdb bitmap-fonts bonobo bzlib cdr crypt cups curl dio divx4linux dvd dvdr emacs emul-linux-x86 esd f77 fam flac font-server foomaticdb fortran ftp gif gnome gphoto2 gpm gstreamer gtk gtk2 imagemagick imlib ipv6 java jp2 jpeg libwww lzw lzw-tiff mad mime motif mozilla mpeg msn multilib nas ncurses netboot nls ogg oggvorbis opengl oss pam pdf perl php pic png pnp ppds python quicktime radeon readline samba scanner sdl shared spell ssl svgalib tcltk tcpd tiff truetype truetype-fonts type1-fonts usb userlocales videos wmf wxwindows xine xml xml2 xmms xosd xpm xrandr xv xvid zlib" Unset: ASFLAGS, CBUILD, CTARGET, LANG, LC_ALL, LDFLAGS
You are both running on AMD64 systems. Just so we don't think it's specific to that arch, I get the same thing on my x86. Only mine doesn't always happen on Java-enabled sites. Sometimes it will happen on plain-text sites and other times it will happen on a highly complex java/flash site. does this still persist with 1.0.6?
