Description Alex Howells (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-02-23 18:48:49 UTC
While using Evolution, I attempted to setup my GMail account -- which requires SSL transactions to operate. It connects to the server, but rejects the certificate issued by Thawte as bad - leaving me with two buttons (OK/Cancel). Cannot click either button, other windows are in a 'locked' state awaiting my response to the certificate error. My only option so far has been to kill the client, and as such I've not been able to get the account setup either!

More clarification:

This occurs when you select 'Always' for secure connections during account creation, then attempt to ascertain supported authentication methods. It pops up to prompt you the certificate isn't valid, but you can't click anything and have to kill the application...

it's been my experience, you have to move that window and that there's another window under it that you have to close first.
Comment 3 foser (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-03-01 07:31:20 UTC
what WM are you using ? I can't rep this.
Comment 4 Alex Howells (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-03-01 15:16:36 UTC
Using the XFCE4 window manager. Reproduction is usually only possible when the server you're connecting to has a BAD certificate for secure connections.

@ HParker: I'll investigate that in a bit.

Gnome/Nautilus for me
Comment 6 Alex Howells (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-03-28 09:33:38 UTC
Bug isn't resolved, I'm assuming its an upstream problem. The window you need to click appears behind the bad certificate prompt - shift the one you can't engage out of the way and its possible to get out of this 'locked up' state.

Resolving as something which needs fixing upstream.
