Description Mattias Winther 2022-01-09 17:14:14 UTC
Wanting to keep track of when I ran genkernel last time, I noticed that the genkernel.log is not of much use for this purpose. There seems to be only one starting and one ending timestamp, but I would like to keep track of when the different compilation steps start and the duration of the process as well. I would be fine with this information being added with a low priority so that additional configuration would be needed to see the data, but preferrably not so low that you would need to enable debug output.

Expected behavior: Start time and duration outputs for each step of the genkernel process present in /var/log/genkernel.log
Actual behavior: No time or duration for any of the steps, only the entire genkernel run.
