Please provide the protocol(s) you have tested this on, as well as some output from `gaim -d` centering around decryption attempts.
I have used jabber and aim so far. I will provide the debug output when a colleague is online to test it with.
We have been having this problem lately too. If I try to send IM via gaim to one of my contacts, all I get in the window is "Requesting key...". The receiver sees "*** Encrypted with the Gaim-Encryption plugin". So far this failure has only been observed over a local jabber server we run. Using the same two clients with MSN has perfectly normal results and all gaim-encrypted IM's are fine. The server and both clients are gentoo machines. The server is running jabberd-1.4.3-r4. My client is running gaim-1.1.2 and gaim-encryption-2.32-r1. Also interesting to note is that a 3rd party is able to IM me via gaim-encryption over our same jabber server just fine. The 3rd party is NOT running gentoo (but is running linux) using gaim and gaim-encryption. Hopefully this isn't too confusing. I will be happy to clarify if needed. For my client the emerge info is as follows: Portage 2.0.51-r15 (default-linux/x86/2004.2, gcc-3.3.5, glibc-2.3.4.20040808-r1, 2.6.10 i686) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.10 i686 Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.60GHz Gentoo Base System version 1.4.16 Python: dev-lang/python-2.2.3-r5,dev-lang/python-2.3.4-r1 [2.3.4 (#1, Feb 7 2005, 08:31:15)] dev-lang/python: 2.2.3-r5, 2.3.4-r1 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.59-r6, 2.13 sys-devel/automake: 1.8.5-r3, 1.5, 1.4_p6, 1.9.4, 1.6.3, 1.7.9-r1 sys-devel/binutils: 2.15.92.0.2-r1 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.10-r4 virtual/os-headers: 2.4.21-r1, 2.4.19-r1 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CFLAGS="-O3 -mcpu=pentium4 -funroll-loops -pipe" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3.1/share/config /usr/kde/3.2/share/config /usr/kde/3.3/env /usr/kde/3.3/share/config /usr/kde/3.3/shutdown /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/lib/X11/xkb /usr/lib/mozilla/defaults/pref /usr/share/config /usr/share/texmf/dvipdfm/config/ /usr/share/texmf/dvips/config/ /usr/share/texmf/tex/generic/config/ /usr/share/texmf/tex/platex/config/ /usr/share/texmf/xdvi/ /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/terminfo /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-O3 -mcpu=pentium4 -funroll-loops -pipe" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoaddcvs autoconfig ccache distlocks sandbox sfperms" GENTOO_MIRRORS="ftp://ftp.wwc.edu/pub/mirrors/ftp.gentoo.org" MAKEOPTS="-j3" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/portage" SYNC="rsync://ftp.wwc.edu/gentoo-portage" USE="x86 X Xaw3d aalib alsa apache2 apm arts avi bash-completion berkdb bitmap-fonts bonobo cdr crypt cscope cups curl dvdr emboss encode esd f77 fam fbcon firebird flac flash font-server foomaticdb fortran gb gd gdbm gif gpm gstreamer gtk gtk2 gtkhtml guile imagemagick imap imlib ipv6 java jpeg junit kde ldap libg++ libwww mad md5sum mikmod mmx motif mpeg mysql nagios-dns nagios-ntp nagios-ping nagios-ssh ncurses nls offenisve offensive oggvorbis opengl oss pam pdflib perl plotutils png postgres python qt quicktime readline ruby samba sasl sdl slang spell sse ssl svga tcltk tcpd tetex tiff truetype truetype-fonts trutype type1-fonts usb vim-with-x wmf xinerama xml xml2 xmms xv zlib" Unset: ASFLAGS, CBUILD, CTARGET, LANG, LC_ALL, LDFLAGS Also:qpkg -I -v gaim x11-plugins/gaim-encryption-2.32-r1 * net-im/gaim-1.1.2 *
Another thing to add is that it also happens in windows with the binary packages so it looks like it may be the plugin itself that is at fault?
Ok, I did a conversation via jabber with the 2nd client that has the problem. Here is some output from the gaim -d log. I hope this is the good part. Note: I updated to gaim-1.1.3 and reinstalled gaim-encryption since the previous comment.
