I succeded in building gnucash-4.9 and gnucash-docs-4.9 just renaming 4.8 ebuilds.
During the compilation of gnucash I got this alert:

CMake Warning at CMakeLists.txt:86 (message):
  /etc is set outside of the intallation prefix /usr.  That will break
  relocation so ENABLE_BINRELOC is set to off.  With relocation disabled
  GnuCash will run only in its configured install location.  You must set
  GNC_UNINSTALLED=1 and GNC_BUILDDIR=/path/to/builddir to run from the build
  directory.  GnuCash will not run from a DESTDIR.

The program builds and seems to work (upgrading from 4.8 to 4.9).

4.8 has multiaccount OFX import bug, 4.9 fixes the problem. See https://bugs.gnucash.org/show_bug.cgi?id=798327

Obsolete in favour of bug 836334.
