Description spiritus 2005-02-17 17:06:11 UTC
My PC lockups time to time with the both ati-drivers 8.8.25 and ati-drivers 8.10.19 drivers for my Radeon 9600XT with the xorg-x11-6.8.1.904.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
First method:
1. CTRL-ALT-F1
2. ALT-F1

After repeating steps above 1-3 times I have my PC totally locked(unable connect to the SSH, no pings) and screen colors are screwed up.

Second method:
1. CTRL-ALT-DEL
2. End Session
After X.org-server restart PC totally locks.

Also my computer locks up when monitor goes to the suspend mode, scrren is blank and PC is locked.

I don't see any reasons of the lockups in xorg's and system's logs. I've played
with the fb-console on/off, played with the fglrx settings in xorg.conf and
found the only one workaround that makes X-server stable is to turn off
DRI(no_dry="yes"). But I don't like total acceleration loss( glxgears score
dropped from 1990 FPS to the 150FPS :( ).
It seems it is a problem with the ATI's DRI...

please try the latest xorg, update your profile and attach your Xorg log and dmesg
Comment 2 spiritus 2005-02-19 06:48:15 UTC
After installing most recent xorg-x11 6.8.2 instead of 6.8.1.904, and reemerging ati-drivers 8.10.19 I have no lockups anymore.

Marked as fixed then
