Nautilus fails to open files with the "Other Application..." dialog if it can't add the program to the database. I created a blank file "readme" and then attempted to open it by specifying /usr/bin/gvim or just gvim. I'd imagine it can't add it to the database because "readme" has type. I'm not sure though. It should open the document with the program even if it can't remember the association. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Create a blank document called readme with mime-type application/octet-stream and Type: Unknown 2. Right click on the document and 3. "Open with Other Application..." 4. Input a text editor, or any program for that matter. Actual Results: An error dialog appears saying: Could not add application to the application database Expected Results: An error message, and the file being opened with the application specified.
