There's a new release of gst-plugins-ffmpeg available... 0.8.7.  It compiled fine with amd64, too!  woo!

The latest version of GStreamer FFmpeg is 0.8.3, and nowhere on that page does it say otherwise. You might be confusing the gstreamer-plugins package with the seperate ffmpeg package, in which case we already have the latest 0.8.9 release in the tree
