I noticed a very old branch called "flameeyes" in sandbox.git. This branch appears to have some autotools-related changes that flameeyes wrote back in 2009.

I reviewed the commits, and It looks like most of these changes have either been merged or implemented in slightly different ways.

The only exception I found was 6a86cbbfdb355384435ce276f532cbc36a6b7f7a, which makes configure error out if an "sighandler" type cannot be found. I doubt this check actually fails on any system we care about.

Given that flameeyes is retired and there's nothing particularly useful on this branch, we should probably drop it.
