hy, trying to install gentoo on a p133 with 64ram dont realy work. the systems hangs just after the bios "beep, i'm ready for work" there is no bash or something like that. its just before and nothing happends. if i put in my loving win98 bootable cd, there is no problem. i tryed it with the 2004.3, .2, minimal/normal, bootdisc. NOTHING WORKS! so. is there a way to boot it with my win98 boot disc and than just start a setup.exe like in good old microsoft days? Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.disc insert 2.bios beep 3.freezy Actual Results: bootloader stucks while doing its work Expected Results: install gentoo
Think you could perhaps try being a little more helpful and give us an actual error message and possibly not be so offensive in your summary?
there is no error message! system just freezes after the bios boot screen. there's not even a clearscreen. so the pc hangs just at the bios screen. found a disc, that may will work...cause i got a bootup! yiha: http://www.kerstner.org/tutorials/gentoo_floppyinstall.html
Can you try a 2005.1 CD and see if it boots on this machine? I would love to know. In any case, we really can't support machines older than a Pentium Pro, as we don't have proper hardware for testing them. Feel free to REOPEN this if it doesn't work and there's any mor einformation you can provide that might help us troubleshoot this issue.
