The source is available for this client.
apt-get and rpm packages are available, but no Gentoo ebuild.
Compilation seems fairly trivial, so going to try my hand at an ebuild tonight and attach it to this bug.

Apologies.  Shortly after successful compile with a minor patch to fix it, I learned there was an update to 4.1.1 which has some distinct improvements
I've since e-mailed them requesting it be added to their FTP site for the benefit of an ebuild target.  There hasn't been a response yet.  Will e-mail them again tomorrow.

Clearly I need to check my Yahoo! account more often.  Almost 3 weeks since I noticed a reply here.

Going to work on an ebuild for this client.
Appears they've gone ahead and provided the 4.1.2 sources after all.

Right now is the only way to access a VSS repository under linux outside of using wine.  And is actually faster than the official microsoft client.
