Latest version of sox fixes the problem of using the wrong asound.h alsa-header.
Still throws a warning on ./configure, but alsa now actully works instead of throwing those annoying 'ioctl error' messages.

thanks for the report, i've ported the destdir patch over to the new release and commited everything. in cvs now.
