Jory would like to join the qmail herd to work on qmail, qmail documentation and qmail friends and integration with software such as vpopmail, courier, imap and relay-ctrl. robbat2 and myself intend to mentor Jory during the new developer period.
His email address is anarch@penguin-geek.com
Hey Jory, I don't know if mkennedy has spoken to you. Please complete the ebuild quiz: http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/devrel/quiz/ebuild-quiz.txt and email to both mkennedy and myself.
Robbin sorry for the delay. I managed to crash system so bad I had to reinstall I should have ebuild quiz done here in next few days I am working on it as fast as possible.
See also Bug #83717 and Bug #83635
Jory, please contact me on IRC, then I'll run through your quizzes and get you set up. Thanks, and sorry for the delay, Tom
All done. Welcome aboard, Jory.
Changing bug titles to comply with new developer bug title conformance standards, sorry for the spam.
Reopening for tracking purposes. I've received 2 complaints now about Anarchy blowing up at users, and being rather hostile towards them. From what i gather from talking to anarchy, he does have a rather short fuse when the right buttons are pushed. He has apologized to the user that's listed in the complaint that i will attach, and he's also agreed to apologize to the second user that I no longer have the complaint for since i accidently trashed my inbox..
Created attachment 63850 [details] morphic's forwarded email to me Morphic forwarded this to me
dmwaters: did you attach the right file? It's just a very short note that doesn't seem to be related to this. "This is the email I sent dholm." but no other email.
Alright, seems like i attached the wrong part of the email. i guess i can thank pine for that.:) Here's what i origionally tried to attach. resignation has been sent to -core morphic can take his slander out on someone else I refuse to stand for it.
morpic, do you believe everything you come across on the Internet? Care to explain why you've attached this nonsense?
the person "slandered" on that page happens to have the same personality as the anarchy as i have had the pleasure to get him to know as over the past months
I had thought this was resolved, but instead it seems to be getting out of hand. Has either of you (morphic, anarchy) talked to the ombudsman? I am explicitly CC-ing him on this to request his comments. Reopening for tracking.

should say "he does not present himself in a good way to others" appologies for that oversight before comitting
I am closing this, temporarily at least, and restricting general distribution. This bug is really not the best vehicle for the current discussion. The conflict taking place here should be resolved in a more private setting. Please do not comment further on this bug (except perhaps for g2boojum). Regards, Ferris
Nah, since things seem to have been resolved, I'll leave it alone. If anarchy wishes to talk to me, he's welcome to do so (preferably by e-mail).
See mail to -core/-dev.
Kloeri, Infra, Please put a hold on this for the moment. I believe Jory was just overreacting on -core/-dev.
Jory reconsidered. Closing bug again.
As it appears that the recruiters re-activated Pratts account without any sort of bug or discussion I will state here that I strongly object to his participation within Gentoo in any form.
(In reply to comment #24) > As it appears that the recruiters re-activated Pratts account without any sort > of bug or discussion I will state here that I strongly object to his > participation within Gentoo in any form. Disagreeing with him coming back is your right. You should however know that this was discussed as Jory came to us cleanly and asked council and devrel the permission to rejoin before anything happened. Council decided it was devrel's business (that was quite some time before the elections). Devrel then discussed it and decided Jory would come back under the conditions the recruiter could assess how well he would behave and that he would be watched closely once he was back. Jory was re-recruited using the normal process for a returning dev. The only difference is that his quizzes were reviewed with more scrutiny than usual. He also chose to have a mentor (nirbheek) although this is not mandatory when returning. I'm leaving this bug opened for a while in case there are more questions. Denis.
I'm in the process of discussing with Calchan why recruitment information was not put in a bug as is the case of new and returning devs. Current recruitment process as documented and published: http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/devrel/recruiters/index.xml#doc_chap5 Examples of other returning dev bugs: http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=24485 http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=251901 Example of new dev bug: http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=272106 Please note, I am not against anarchy returning. I have stated my support of this. I do however want to ensure he starts off 'on the right foot' with Gentoo Developers and not have someone 'hold it over his head' that he was given special treatment or did not have to follow the process etc.
Another bug was used by Calchan for his return: #281701. That bug is closed, please use this one for commenting.

Whether or not Jory was aware or requested such treatment is not something I can comment on at this time. Because procedures were not followed no one outside of the devrel/recruiters/council circle was aware that the recruitment was actually happening. This prevented everyone else from voicing their opinion.
(In reply to comment #28) > > I feel that he was given special treatment due to procedures not being > followed. Whether or not Jory was aware or requested such treatment is not > something I can comment on at this time. > The fact that there was no comment in this bug when Calchan started working with Jory was an oversight on his part and hopefully this servers as a lesson for the future. There was also some uncertainty about what to do as this bug was restricted. Other parts of the recruitment process were done as usual.
Bump, almost 2 weeks without any input from devrel.
(In reply to comment #30) > Bump, almost 2 weeks without any input from devrel. betelgeuse is a part of devrel and commented; oversight = human error. reviewing the documentation for the recruitment process, the rest of the process is being followed. It has been stated that everyone has been unable to voice their opinion due to a lack of bug. No one else has commented on this open bug.
(In reply to comment #31) > > It has been stated that everyone has been unable to voice their opinion due to > a lack of bug. No one else has commented on this open bug. > No comments in months so closing. Also Jory was missing a gentooJoin entry for coming back so added that.
*** Bug 281701 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
Jory has mailed gentoo-core telling us he wants to retire. Will give him 15 days to reconsider (as, maybe, he could also drop from some packages maintainership to be able to keep even with his limited time)
He will keep in gentoo :D
He is inactive for a long time
He is still here (buggy script :S)
For bookkeeping purposes, it seems that Anarchy's earlier retirement was handled in bug #139495. I've noted the date (2006/07/07) in LDAP accordingly.
First mail sent.
Second mail sent.
(In reply to Michał Górny from comment #40) > Second mail sent. Really. if you would have spoken with the mozilla herd you would have known I had to replace my system. I am in process of a setup if you want to retire go ahead.
Please don't retire Jory.
(In reply to Denis Dupeyron from comment #42) > Please don't retire Jory. I am not wanting to, but I am tired of the politics and people just looking for a reason to push old devs out the project. Yes I been absent but other things take a priority over Gentoo and the community as a whole when I am not paid for my work.

Jory asked me to revert his retirement. Reassigning to recruiters.
I've reverted as many changes to LDAP as I could figure out, reverted gitolite changes, reactivated Bugzilla account, readded you to gentoo-core@ ml. What you need to do is readd yourself to packages, projects, mail aliases, mailing lists. I don't know if we preserved your old password or if it'll need a reset. Please give it some time, and let me know if anything doesn't work.
Seems to be all fine.
