When I close the mplayer window with the windowmanager close button, mplayer seems to close but the process is still there. Using the shortcut 'q' works fine as well as gmplayer. Output from mplayer is "Broken pipe" and I get my prompt, but a process is still stuck and dpms isn't turned on again. Sending a SIGHUP ends the process, but dpms is still off. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. start a movie in mplayer 2. close the window (using the window manager close button) Actual Results: mplayer seems to close, but the the process is still there Expected Results: mplayer closed, no hanging processes Portage 2.0.51-r15 (default-linux/x86/2004.2, gcc-3.3.5, glibc-2.3.4.20040808-r1, 2.6.10-gentoo-r6 i686) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.10-gentoo-r6 i686 Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 1700MHz Gentoo Base System version 1.4.16 Python: dev-lang/python-2.3.4-r1 [2.3.4 (#1, Feb 8 2005, 15:57:16)] distcc 2.16 i686-pc-linux-gnu (protocols 1 and 2) (default port 3632) [enabled] dev-lang/python: 2.3.4-r1 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.13, 2.59-r6 sys-devel/automake: 1.5, 1.7.9-r1, 1.4_p6, 1.9.4, 1.6.3, 1.8.5-r3 sys-devel/binutils: 2.15.92.0.2-r1 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.10-r4 virtual/os-headers: 2.6.8.1-r2, 2.6.8.1-r1 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CFLAGS="-O3 -march=i386 -mcpu=pentium4 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer -fstack-protector" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3.3/env /usr/kde/3.3/share/config /usr/kde/3.3/shutdown /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/lib/X11/xkb /usr/lib/mozilla/defaults/pref /usr/share/config /usr/share/texmf/dvipdfm/config/ /usr/share/texmf/dvips/config/ /usr/share/texmf/tex/generic/config/ /usr/share/texmf/tex/platex/config/ /usr/share/texmf/xdvi/ /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/terminfo /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-O3 -march=i386 -mcpu=pentium4 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer -fstack-protector" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoaddcvs autoconfig ccache distcc distlocks sandbox sfperms strict" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://linux.rz.ruhr-uni-bochum.de/download/gentoo-mirror/ http://mirrors.sec.informatik.tu-darmstadt.de/gentoo http://ftp.uni-erlangen.de/pub/mirrors/gentoo ftp://ftp.join.uni-muenster.de/pub/linux/distributions/gentoo http://sunsite.cnlab-switch.ch/ftp/mirror/gentoo/" MAKEOPTS="-j6" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.ask.fh-furtwangen.de/gentoo-portage" USE="x86 X aac alsa apache2 apm artworkextra avi bash-completion berkdb bitmap-fonts cdr crypt cups divx4linux dvd encode erandom f77 fam flac font-server foomaticdb fortran gdbm gif gnome gnutls gstreamer gtk gtk2 gtkhtml imagemagick imap imlib java jikes jpeg junit libwww mad maildir memlimit mikmod mmx mozilla mpeg ncurses network nls nntp nptl nvidia oggvorbis opengl oss pam perl pic png postgres python qt quicktime readline rtc samba sdl slang spell sse sse2 ssl tcltk tcpd tetex tga theora tiff truetype truetype-fonts type1-fonts wmf xine xinerama xml2 xmms xv xvid zlib" Unset: ASFLAGS, CBUILD, CTARGET, LANG, LC_ALL, LDFLAGS, PORTDIR_OVERLAY
This is related to http://bugzilla.mplayerhq.hu/show_bug.cgi?id=179 and probably wont be fixed from MPlayer developer side.
Invalidating due to upstream response.
