emerge --info xfce-base/xfwm4

On Xfce, when enabling compositing under window manager settings it causes an WM/X11 crash. The setting persists and compositing works fine after logging in again, but every time the option is flipped from disabled to enabled, it crashes.

hardware: Ryzen 3800x, RX 570 (amdgpu)
