Is the following warning really appropriate, necessary now: Warning: Please note that gentoo-sources is heavily patched and may not be stable. Using vanilla-sources might be a better idea if you encounter numerous problems. On a side note, beware of grsecurity, especially with X. It is best to disable grsecurity unless you are absolutely sure that you need it.
which part do you have a problem with ? the kernel is heavily patched and as such not really supposed to be used for systems that need stability grsec warning is there because in order to properly use grsec you need to learn how to use it ... the common user is not going to know where to start. the default permissions could prevent many programs from running (e.g. X). thus its easier to tell users to disable grsec if they dont know how to use it and programs stop working
Ok, see this is sort of where things break down for me. The newbie at this point has likely an XFS partition, but only the xfs-sources has support for it. ASIDE: instead of on a side note, it should read "If using gentoo-sources,..."
