After taking mirror.clarkson.edu down for a software upgrade it will not sync anymore. This is probably because it's connecting from a different IP address. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Let the update script execute 2. Check the log files 3. Actual Results: There are no files being transferred. Expected Results: An updated portage tree should have been transferred
Mike, You need to be more explicit. Has the IP on the rsync mirror changed? I'm seeing quite a few different IP's. This is what I see getting denied when trying to sync your rsync mirror: daemon.log.0:Feb 12 19:30:20 gentoo1 rsyncd[1610]: rsync denied on module gentoo-portage from kernelmirror.clarkson.edu (128.153.144.18) This is the record I have for your rsync acl entry: # rsync10.us :: Mike Chavoustie :: chavoumd@clarkson.edu 128.153.144.22 and this is what I see in DNS: mirror.clarkson.edu A 128.153.144.19 kernelmirror.clarkson.edu A 128.153.144.18
The IP hasn't changed, per se -- mirror.clarkson.edu has always been aliased to a few other things for helpfulness to other people, and the kernelmirror.clarkson.edu address is the one you're seeing. The issue we're having is that after the software upgrade, the IP address that the mirror uses to get to the outside world has changed. It used to be 128.153.144.22, but now it's using 128.153.144.18. It still has the 144.22 address, however. Is there a way to configure the IP the server uses to get to the outside, or is it just "luck" ?
Just hit this on my last rsync, and portage got very confused. Could you remove it from the rotation until it's fixed?
Mike, Any movement on this bug? -Jeffrey
I just did a test sync on 128.153.144.22 and it looked good, so thats the one I'll update in rotation. -Jeffrey
