i added autoconfig to the default-linux profile a while ago (Nov 2004) and ive never seen a bug report because of it ...

this means that all users using a default-linux cascading profile have been running this feature without fail !

i propose we punt the FEATURES check and just have the config.{sub,guess} always be copied

Looking through the batch of bugs, I'm not sure that some of these are 
actually fixed in stable. Others, the requirements have possibly changed after 
the initial fix was committed.
