Description Lloyd D Budd 2002-09-21 08:14:56 UTC
> This new boot CD will boot from nearly any modern IDE
> CD-ROM drive, as well as many SCSI CD-ROMs.
It is more the BIOS than the CD-ROM drive. The danger is that the 2nd para
talks about 486+, etc. I would hate to have someone go out and be a new CD-
ROM drive in an attempt to get the install to work on an older comp.

ASIDE: it is interesting that the component is listed as the "CD Install..
Guide". Possible, it would be good if the component or title of the doc was
changed.

this is not always true ...

i have a few computers where older cdroms do not boot cds but newer ones do

You always need a modern BIOS, the next hurdle -- and a hurdle fair less
often -- is your CD-ROM supporting boot.

So, should I make a note of this?

I made a note of this when I updated the build guide.
