Description Thomas Jäger 2002-09-21 01:30:39 UTC
When updating gnome to version 2.0.2-r1 the package libxml2-2.4.24 seems not to
be "installable". Building libxml2 will stop at

(cd /var/tmp/portage/libxml2-2.4.24/image/; gtkdoc-fixxref --module=libxml
--html-dir=/usr/doc)

gtkdoc-fixxref is running using the whole cpu time doesn't stop (even after
running several hours on an amd 1800+). is this an error or normal operations?
Comment 1 foser (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2002-10-07 17:57:55 UTC
This is most likely a gtk-doc problem, if it is reproducable.
Comment 2 Thomas Jäger 2002-11-13 16:52:34 UTC
when updating to libxml2-2.4.26 this bugs seems to be there again...
when removing the link /usr/doc -> /usr/share/doc, libxml2 could be installed
Comment 3 foser (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2002-11-14 07:40:19 UTC
Doesn't make a whole lot of sense, do you have a link somewhere in
/usr/share/doc pointing to /usr/doc ?
Comment 4 Thomas Jäger 2002-11-14 15:39:59 UTC
oh, yes - there was a cylic link

/usr/doc/HOWTO -> /usr/share/doc/howto
/usr/doc/howto -> /usr/share/doc/howto

but with
  /usr/doc -> /usr/share/doc
the above links will be cylic links..

thanks ..
Comment 5 Thomas Jäger 2002-11-14 16:24:56 UTC
just a hint for others with maybe the same problem

the cyclic links are created with the howto-(text,pdf..) and
mini-howto-(text,pdf..) packages. each package will create a link

  /usr/share/doc/HOWTO -> /usr/share/doc/howto

in this case, i think, old portage versions created wrong links (duplicated
links)...
