Description Olaf Walkowiak 2005-02-11 04:24:01 UTC
When run from the commandline, gaim (1.1.2) writes stuff to stdout:
bar 1
bar 2
bar 3
foo 1
bar 1
bar 2
bar 3

Sometimes the "foo1" is left out.
It seems to happen when connecting, but I am not sure

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. start gaim from commandline
2. connect to jabber

Actual Results:
Messages "foo1", "bar1" .... are written to stdiut

Expected Results:
No output to stdout expected

eh?
Comment 2 Don Seiler (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-02-11 07:41:50 UTC
Yes it does. This is not a bug. If you don't want to see it, don't run from command line or start with 'gaim &' and close the term.
Comment 3 Don Seiler (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-02-11 08:01:43 UTC
Wait. You literally see "foo"s and "bar"s? That is probably some plugin doing that. I thought you were just using foo/bar as example text.
Comment 4 Don Seiler (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-02-11 08:06:00 UTC
What gaim third-party plugins do you have installed?
Comment 5 Olaf Walkowiak 2005-02-11 08:58:34 UTC
Installed gaim stuff:
 x11-plugins/gaim-extprefs
 x11-plugins/gaim-encryption
 x11-themes/gaim-smileys

Comment 6 Olaf Walkowiak 2005-02-11 08:59:28 UTC
I actually see the foo1, bar1, bar2

Not example text but real output
Comment 7 Olaf Walkowiak 2005-02-11 09:10:00 UTC
I check the plugins again, it seems to be
x11-plugins/gaimosd (MIssed that one since I search for gaim-)

disabling it makes the stuff go away

Comment 8 Don Seiler (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-02-11 09:16:45 UTC
alrighty. well that is up to upstream to take care of those I guess. I don't personally think it's worth the time for us to worry about it.
