Description Joern 2005-02-10 10:24:30 UTC
When I emerged mplayer it installed xmms... but I don't need it and I see no reason why it should be installed with mplayer. Mplayer can work WITHOUT XMMS!
If it is my fault, then the bug is, that portage is not transparent enough.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge mplayer

Actual Results:
mplayer AND xmms were installed; although I typed emerge mplayer, and not emerge
mplayer && emerge xmms.

Expected Results:
Just to install mplayer -.-

how about disabling the xmms use flag?
Comment 2 Joern 2005-02-10 15:00:50 UTC
xmms use flag is NOT set. sry forgot to say
Comment 3 Carsten Lohrke (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-02-10 15:21:10 UTC
Then you will have installed something else with depends on xmms. The mplayer ebuild has only the optional dependency.
