Running "ebuild icon-9.5.20i.ebuild test" will verify the build by running the icon test suite. This should be sufficient to stabilize. Once this is stablized, the older versions can be removed.

alpha and ia64 do not have any stable keywords. If you get sanity-check- it means you've done something wrong, and architecture testers will not handle the bug.
