Have been getting the following on -Dupv --newuse world for a few days: [blocks B ] <=app-emulation/emul-linux-x86-xlibs-1.2-r3 (from pkg x11-base/xorg-x11-6.8.1.904) Finally tried now to unmerge it, then did a Du world and it installed the same version again. However, it now complains about the block again. Bug doesn't seem to have a major effect on functionality, only problem I connect to this is that I now can't do a proper -Du world. Cedega 4.2.1 segfaults but I don't see how this is connected, posted in transgaming on that. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. emerge -aC emul-linux-x86-xlibs 2. emerge -Duav --newuse world 3. emerge -Dupv --newuse world Actual Results: Portage gave the block as written above Expected Results: Either a normally (ie. no B) installed emul-linux-x86-xlibs or the B reported before merging the package. I installed using a Stage 1 on 3 NPTL guide from Forums/Docu Last emerge sync && emerge -Dupv --newuse world a few hours ago, last restart before that. (but the block has been there for many restarts) emerge info: Portage 2.0.51-r15 (default-linux/amd64/2004.3, gcc-3.4.3, glibc-2.3.4.20041102- r0, 2.6.9-gentoo-r14 x86_64) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.9-gentoo-r14 x86_64 AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3200+ Gentoo Base System version 1.4.16 Python: dev-lang/python-2.3.4-r1 [2.3.4 (#1, Feb 7 2005, 17:57:14) ] dev-lang/python: 2.3.4-r1 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.59-r6, 2.13 sys-devel/automake: 1.7.9-r1, 1.8.5-r3, 1.5, 1.4_p6, 1.6.3, 1.9.4 sys-devel/binutils: 2.15.92.0.2-r1 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.10-r4 virtual/os-headers: 2.6.8.1-r2 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="amd64" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CFLAGS="-march=athlon64 -O2 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer" CHOST="x86_64-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3.3/env /usr/kde/3.3/ share/config /usr/kde/3.3/shutdown /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/lib/X11/xkb / usr/share/config /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/terminfo /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-march=athlon64 -O2 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoaddcvs autoconfig ccache distlocks sandbox sfperms" GENTOO_MIRRORS="ftp://mirrors.blueyonder.co.uk/mirrors/gentoo/ ftp://ftp. mirrorservice.org/sites/www.ibiblio.org/gentoo/ http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/ Linux/distributions/gentoo" MAKEOPTS="-j2" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.europe.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="amd64 X acpi alsa berkdb bitmap-fonts crypt dga divx4linux dvd dvdr emul- linux-x86 f77 fam flac font-server fortran gif gpm gtk gtk2 imagemagick java javascript jp2 jpeg junit libwww lzw lzw-tiff motif mozilla mpeg multilib ncurses nls nptl opengl oss pam pcre perl php png python qt readline sdl spell ssl symlink tcltk tcpd tiff truetype truetype-fonts type1-fonts usb userlocales xml2 xmms xpm xrandr xv xvid zlib" Unset: ASFLAGS, CBUILD, CTARGET, LANG, LC_ALL, LDFLAGS
x11-base/xorg-x11-6.8.1.904 is ~amd64, it requires changes made in the current unstable app-emulation/emul-linux-x86-xlibs-1.2-r6. It is just a problem mixing stable and unstable packages in some instances. Just add app-emulation/emul-linux-x86-xlibs to /etc/portage/package.keywords too and all should be well again.
Shouldn't emul-linux-x86-xlibs-1.2-r6 then be a dependency of xorg-x11-6.8.1.904 under the conditions where this applies? The fix works though, I reopened because of the dep thing, hope that's right
Yes, app-emulation/emul-linux-x86-xlibs-1.2-r6 should be a required dependency for xorg-x11-6.8.1.90 and xorg-x11-6.8.2. I required it for the 6.8.2 version of xorg.
You broke the update of the AMD64 stable: emerge -auD world These are the packages that I would merge, in order: Calculating world dependencies ...done! 1.2-r7 is stable, so the bug doesn't apply anymore.
