Description Gediminas Jakutis 2021-09-13 10:38:16 UTC
Each pf-sources ebuild uses specifically -1 version of genpatches base and extras sets for each release, e.g. specifically 5.14-1 for all pf-sources ebuilds for 5.14
As genpatches-5.12-1 and genpatches-5.14-1 are not available in https://dev.gentoo.org/~mpagano/genpatches/tarballs/ and start with a -2 version instead, all of pf-sources ebuilds for 5.12 and 5.14 kernels fail in the download phase.

no "emerge --info" as my system configuration has absolutely no relevance here.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge '=sys-kernel/pf-sources-5.14_p2' OR emerge "=sys-kernel/pf-sources-5.12_p6"
2. watch it fail to download genpatches
Actual Results:
!!! Couldn't download 'genpatches-5.14-1.base.tar.xz'. Aborting.

This problem was present ever since 5.12 kernel was initially released, but I didn't report it, as I assumed it's a one time fluke by the genpatches team missing a release and assumed this won't happen again.

genpatches-5.14-1.base.tar.xz is mirrored.
genpatches-5.13-1.base.tar.xz is mirrored.
genpatches-5.12-1.base.tar.xz is mirrored.

Please specify something like
  GENTOO_MIRRORS="https://distfiles.gentoo.org"
in your make.conf. Find more mirrors here:
https://www.gentoo.org/downloads/mirrors/

As to why the -1 gets removed, good question. I may want to inquire about that from the kernel team.
