The documentation is installed in two places: the makefile uses /usr/share/doc/xfig-3.2.4/ while the ebuild writes in /usr/share/doc/xfig-3.2.4-r1/.

This problem is common to lots of packages. Why does the function dodoc install by default in /usr/share/doc/${PF}/${DOCDESTTREE} instead of /usr/share/doc/${P}/${DOCDESTTREE}? I think that the latter solution is the best one because the package documentation doesn't change among different releases of gentoo packages.

I have just seen that the problem has been fixed in the ebuild
xfig-3.2.4-r2.ebuild. This bug could be closed when that ebuild will become
stable  on all archs.

Fixed in >=xfig-3.2.4-r2, closing.
