I tried to emerge alleyoop (a GUI application for the valgrind memory profiling/debugging tool). During compilation emerge aborted due to an error during make: symtab.o(.text+0x1ab): In function `symtab_map_new': : undefined reference to `bfd_get_section_size_before_reloc' collect2: ld returned 1 exit status make[3]: *** [alleyoop] Error 1 make[3]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/alleyoop-0.8.2/work/alleyoop-0.8.2/src' make[2]: *** [all] Error 2 make[2]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/alleyoop-0.8.2/work/alleyoop-0.8.2/src' make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1 make[1]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/alleyoop-0.8.2/work/alleyoop-0.8.2' make: *** [all] Error 2 The complete output of the process of emerging alleyoop can be seen at the URL given above. Possibly this is the result of a missed dependency? Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. emerge alleyoop 2. 3. Actual Results: See http://otaku42.de/alleyoop_emerge_err.txt Expected Results: Emerge should have worked without error messages.

patch added - Please test and confirm it works ok. This will remind me to submit it upstream.
Compilation works fine now for me. From what I can tell the problem is fixed now. Thanks for your fast responses.

Alejandro, please include the output of how it failed (just like the intial bug report)
Created attachment 50910 [details] emerge alleyoop &> bug (Sorry, i'm don't speak english very well)
Alejandro, 1. You speak English well enough for me to understand you easily. No need to apologise. I hope my English is understable too. 2. Have you done an emerge sync after 2005-02-08? If not, do "emerge sync" again and the problem will hopefully be fixed.
Thanks! It's Working
