As described above. Something iteresting though:

Could NOT find KF5 (missing: Activities Declarative KIO) (found suitable
  version "5.85.0", minimum required is "5.85.0")

I've attached emerge --info, build.log, cmake error log, cmake output log.

The error is not about KF5DocTools.

All the listed dependencies are defined by the ebuild, are they properly installed on your system?

$ equery k kactivities kdeclarative kio

Yes, kactivities was not completely installed (but some files were!). I have /var mounted on an external drive, perhaps it's malfunctioning? Might that have led to the issue of an incomplete install?

I have a new tool now for self help!
