When trying to use the ebuild from bug #58483 (net-wireless/rt2500-1.1.0_beta1) my system crashes completely. Not even Ctrl+Alt+Del works so I have to perform a hard reset. The ebuild does compile but the problem arises when I start the interface with "/etc/init.d/net.ra0 start", or even when I just modprobe the module. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3. in fact, modprobe rt2500 results in a "kernel panic - not syncing: Fatal exception in interrupt" with a stack trace too large to reproduce. On the contrary, after starting the interface without modprobing first I first see a message like "starting interface ra0" and the screen fills with strings of "=". Again, both result in complete lockups.
Can you please report your problems to http://rt2x00.serialmonkey.com/wiki/index.php/Main_Page Best use one of their mailing lists.
This should be fixed with beta2
I'm sorry but the problem remains. Even if I do "modprobe rt2500 debug=1" I get a stack dump and a kernel panic.
sorry there is nothing I can do about it. Please contact the original authors .. I did not write the code. I am sure they would like to receive feedback on their driver.
