A few comments: Please use UTF-8. I noticed too late otherwise I would have rejected the patches. Hopefully, I fixed the è (A-tilde) and the pages will look OK. If not, please let me know. If some pages now have mixed encodings, they can only be fixed manually. You can consider the handbook as a single document, cat all your patches into a single file and create a single bug. This is much easier for everyone :) Please do not change the $Header$ line because it confuses patch and the first hunk gets rejected. CVS will overwrite it at commit time anyway. Please do not comment out the original text in translations. Thanks a lot for your efforts.

PS: please validate your files with xmllint. $ xmllint --noout --valid file.xml or even $ xmllint --noout --valid *.xml No output means no errors. If not already done, you'll need to add the following line to your /etc/xml/catalog so that xmllint knows where to find the DTD's <rewriteURI uriStartString="/dtd/" rewritePrefix="/usr/portage/metadata/dtd/"/>
