Not sure if "me too" comments are useful, but I'm seeing the same problem, also on an amd64 system. The build seems to complete successfully and the package installs. I won't crowd the bug report with my logs, which are about the same as what as already been posted, but contact me if you want any info on my system.
Confirmed on a Pentium-M.
Linux-PAM-0.77/ just remove this from all lines with +++ which is only two and patch will apply with only one hunk still screwed up.
Created attachment 50243 [details] simply what still refuses to apply cleanly I have successfully patched it going about it the long way but there is a problem here problem is the patch is being run from inside the LINUX_pam dir already which it looks for the dir to be there but isnt remove the LINUX_pam/ info and patch will run, but you will still have one hunk fail I have yet to figure out what exactly needs to be done to correct that issue.

I put my failed patch output to Bug 74040 which this patch was supposed to fix. Obviously there should be some testing BEFORE marking ebuild as stable - single emerge would find the problem in this case!

Further to comment #20 - it's not very impressive is it. I'd rather an ebuild remain marked as unstable for far too long (as some seem to be) than have my security potentially compromised in this manner.

You ppl make me laugh I am sure if everyone in here was to display there emerge info like you should be doing we would see you all run ~x86 which has known issues, then you sit hear and whine and complain when something goes wrong. WAKE up and get a clue already if you that hung up about a package that has a minor problem with a patch use standard x86 otherwise shut up and be patient while the problem is looked at.
#grep KEYWORDS /usr/portage/sys-libs/pam/pam-0.77-r5.ebuild KEYWORDS="alpha amd64 arm hppa ia64 mips ppc ppc64 s390 sh sparc x86" #portageq envvar ACCEPT_KEYWORDS x86 Laugh if you want, but do it silently, please, there is already enough noise arround here.
LOL dude you didnt show nothing but your ignorance. I am not gonna waste my time to continue to post to a comment like that. If you have any clue as to what I refered you will understand what was said have a nice day.
Jory, a quick text search of this bug will show you that the "~x86" in your comment is the first "~x86" anywhere on the page. We are all running stable. Go back to sleep now.
And by the way, I don't know about everyone else, but I just masked the new version locally for the time-being, and am perfectly happy to wait while it's ironed out. For those that are concerned about security problems with the new version, "echo =sys-libs/pam-0.77-r5 >> /etc/portage/package.mask" and remerge. This will remerge the old version and the *next* new version (after r5) will be picked up after it's fixed (I'm sure they'll bump the version number after all the hubbub). I do agree with Jory on one thing, though: after doing the above, relax and be patient.
Fixed pam-0.77-r6 is out, plz. emerge sync and enjoy. ;-) Jory, would you please shut up and have some sleep, unless you have something to say _to the point_. Thanks. :-/
Regarding Comment #22: No, this is another bug that has never been properly fixed. Maybe best explained in Bug 69925, but there are many related ones (just do a bugzilla query for those strings using http://bugs.gentoo.org/query.cgi).
It
It´s fixed now, some should close this one. ;-)
Confirmed fixed. Thank you much, Jakub! Closing as reporter. :)
in pam-0.77-r7 the problem is back again... please open it again :)
niv post your error please seeing I have updated to r7 and all patched well I do believe everyone else has had success with the patch as well? If not open a new bug report on it.
Just tested r7...looks ok to me. It's still ~x86, so I'm not actually running it...I just checked as far as the unpack step. Leaving the ticket closed.
