I recently emerged sys-apps/fwupd-1.6.1-r1 and the UEFI firmware and Management Engine no longer get updated on my machine. Gnome software update states that the firmware update is loaded successfully and that my machine needs to reboot to performe the update. Whenever I reboot the machine it shows me a message for about a second that states Reboot the system..after that message my system just hangs with a blank screen. I'm unable to turn my laptop off. Not even the power button is responding after 5 seconds. It's completely frozen. Unplugging it from the power and removing the battery resolves the issue and lets me boot the laptop as if nothing happend. What could be the issue here? Intel ME updates are currently broken for Lenovo. See https://github.com/fwupd/firmware-lenovo-thinkpad/issues/140 and similar issues.
