mmm i'm not big fan of adding filters for everything and the kitchen sink. Why would i want to add this ?

Plus that i consider fam pretty much obsolete.

I just installed it, because it's a dependecie of something. CXXFLAGS="${CFLAGS} -fvisibility=hidden" is a feature of gcc-3.4 to make libraries smaller by only exporting the needed symbols and therfore improve load times.
