The standard configuration of this file should include the line O PrivacyOptions=authwarnings, goaway rather then O PrivacyOptions=authwarnings to increase security without loss of functionality Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
The shipped sendmail.mc file is very simple and I would like to leave it that way. As with every MTA the user and/or admin should carefully review the documentation and change the conf accordingly. There are tons of security options that we *could* enable in sendmail (like with exim or postfix) but we simply don't want to influence those choices. The basic conf are just there for defining the proper OS and local mailer. I'll close this bug as WONTFIX if no further comments are posted. I'd like to write a commented sendmail.mc file in the near future, but probably that should go in a separate doc or under sendmail-gentoo.mc.
Closing this bug for now.
