LIBWMP is required to build gimp but it isn't listed as a prerequisite.

Its libwmf, it isn't required to build gimp, and yes there is an optional dep on it.

wmf? ( >=media-libs/libwmf-0.2.8.2 )

You are right...I misspelled it in my posting here. I had a system that didn't have libwmf installed. I went to install GIMP and it failed. In looking at the logs I noticed that it wanted libwmf.

I verified that I didn't have libwmf installed and did it myself. When I re-ran the GIMP emerge it worked!

I had done an emerge sync just before doing all this, so I had the latest portage.
