Description Sam 2005-01-29 18:06:35 UTC
The openoffice-1.1.4.ebuild installs .desktop files only when USE=gnome or USE=kde is set. Other freedesktop compliant DE's like XFCE-4 now can't use .desktop files.
I'm not sure how the other things are installed (differently..?) when not having USE=gnome of USE=is set. But I definitely think .desktop should be installed into some standard location like /usr/share/applications/

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. USE="-gnome -kde"
2. emerge openoffice
(3. xfce4-appfinder #and see for yourself)
Actual Results:
No .desktop files are installed, contraty to the freedesktop standard.

Expected Results:
Install the .desktop file.

sam if you could work out a patch and attach it we would really appreciate it.

Vanilla OpenOffice.org does not provide Freedesktop-compatible .desktop-files, this an upstream problem (which will be solved with 2.0). If you want to have better desktop integration use openoffice-ximian instead.
