I have xorg-x11-6.8.1.902. Every time I watch a video file, no matter which format or codec, the video flickers and the color is distorted. This happens with both xine and mplayer. When I instructed gstreamer not to use xv, the video worked fine. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3. It works well with xorg-6.8.2. Perhaps this bug could be closed now...
Few more checks indicate that the problem persists, but only on kde, and only when xv is used.
These problems probably mean that Xv is not used correctly by an app, or that it is used by more than one app in conflicting ways, or something like that... (do you have composite enabled, btw?) I don't think we can do much to help...
I tried it when only one video program was running. I don't have composite enabled. I don't think that the program uses Xv incorrectly, because mplayer shows video well under failsafe, but not under kde. Therefore I think it is a kde problem.
Today I tried to kill kooldock. For some reason, before I killed kooldock the problem persisted. After I killed it the problem disappeared. Any idea why this has happened?
Probably this was kooldock uncorrectly using Xv... in any case, I don't think we can do much to help.
